ABOUT:

–       The cooking bug bit Derek at a young age, he learned how to cook Southern food from his

grandmother and worked in his family’s restaurant as a teenager

–       No real father figure except for his grandfather

–       Was a Co-owner in a BBQ restaurant & catering company with some family members. Things didn’t

work out and he was forced to file bankruptcy.

–       Hit some hard times financially and couldn’t afford to support his new family on his cooking salary

so he went back to working in the IT industry

–       Wants to follow his passion and get back in the kitchen

–       Loves to buy different and expensive knives.

–       Acts like a “quiet storm”… he’s quiet but can blow up at any moment. So lazy people in the kitchen,

beware!

–       He stays fit because working in the kitchen is very fast paced and enduring.

–       He wants to win because no one remembers 2nd place!
